Border crossing
At the "Ustyluh" checkpoint in Volyn, a woman attempted to bring Apple smartphones into Ukraine while traveling by minibus.
Authorities found 23 iPhone 17 Pro Max devices in the vehicle with 256 or 512 GB of memory; their customs valuation is UAH 1.6 million.
Fine and customs clearance
"Upon entering Ukraine she should have chosen the 'red corridor', declared the consignment of goods and paid the due customs duties and VAT. However, the female driver chose the 'green' corridor and neglected the obligation to submit a written declaration and to pay taxes."
– State Customs Service
The devices were temporarily seized and placed in the customs warehouse. A protocol was drawn up against the woman under Part 2 of Article 471 of the Customs Code.
She agreed to conclude a settlement agreement and must pay the fine within a month.
"In return, the customs office terminates proceedings in the case and carries out the customs clearance of the goods in accordance with the declared regime. If a settlement agreement is concluded, the person is considered not to have been subjected to administrative liability for the committed act."
